MORE than 3000 people poured through the doors of the New Tweed Coast’s most impressive new venue The Beach Bar – bar & grill last weekend to celebrate the return of a “pub” at Cabarita’s favorite beachfront location.

The $10 million bar, built by Resort Corp as part of its $75 million The Beach resort, features 1,100sqm of ‘chilled-out’ and ‘funky’ beach décor as well as a 360 degree island bar.

The successful opening saw enormous crowds flock to enjoy a drink and try the New Tweed Coast’s best ‘surf and turf’ menu.

Beach Bar manager Rod Millot said the layout and design was a huge hit, particularly with families.

“It was absolutely fantastic to see such a great crowd come down and even better to watch their reaction as they walked through the door,” Mr Millot said.

“The look on some people’s faces, especially of those that remembered the old bar, was amazing and we got some really positive feedback on how good it looked,

“We had an overwhelming number of families through the facility which was great to see, and we will really be encouraging these people to come back.”

The weekend kicked-off with a locals barbecue on Friday afternoon which ended in the late hours of the night.

Saturday was the Cabarita and Bogangar Business Association Christmas party which saw more than 400 locals catch-up for a ‘chrissy drink’ at the Beachfront premises.

It also included live entertainment with local favourites Max Dudo headlining the day which will be the first of a series of live acts to come to the bar.

Celebrations came to a head on Sunday with radio station 102.9 Hot Tomato hosting a fun-filled family day. However, it was the food that won the day on Sunday with head-chef Michael Soloman working his magic in the kitchen.

Resort Corp co-managing director Peter Madrers said the food was a major draw-card of the Beach Bar and he expected the menu to attract crowds from far and near.

“The Beach Bar is a place everyone can enjoy, and this is mirrored by the fantastic menu,” said Mr Madrers.

“Whether it’s mum, dad and the kids coming down on a Sunday to enjoy some fish and chips, or the business guy in his Ferrari with his girlfriend looking for a gourmet experience, there is something for everyone of the highest quality.”

The opening now paves the way for the completion of The Beach’s resort vision with the construction of an  internal swim-up pool bar and introduction of poolside service and room service.

The planned retail destination will also be realized with the sale and leasing of remaining tenancies on the resort’s ground floor.
