Marketing of The Beach commenced in 2003 and all of the available apartments were sold out in a very short time. Resort Corp has recently announced that the balance 13 unsold apartments are now to be released to the market. The Beach will be completed in May next year.
The Beach is located in a stunning beachfront location in what is generally regarded as one of the finest beachfront locations on the east coast of Australia. The project, situated on the corner of Coast Road and Pandanus Parade will feature 57 residential resort apartments spanning three levels.
Resort Corp joint managing director Paul Brinsmead, said that Resort Corp’s intention with this project is to develop an absolute 5 star landmark residential resort project.
“ Our architect, John Lea of Pacific Projects was to produce a stunning project to match its spectacular location,” he said.
The Beach is designed by John Lea, formerly managing director of Pacific Projects Group and recently appointed design director of Resort Corp. John worked with POD Interior Design on the interiors to deliver a quintessential contemporary beachside feel throughout the apartments and public spaces.
In April Pacific Projects Group was absorbed into Resort Corp’s structure as part of its major growth initiative throughout 2005/2006. The move also provides Resort Corp with a unique architectural engine to drive further its pursuit of design excellence.
As director of design for Resort Corp John Lea will manage concept aesthetics quality control on all Resort Corp, Resort Corp Life and Resort Corp Metro projects.
Mr Lea said that a key consideration at The Beach was to ensure that all apartments and public spaces capitalised on the natural attributes of what was Australia’s foremost eastern seaboard beachfront location.
“ Our use of expansive glazing combined with spacious open plan living areas will maximise views of the beach and the Pacific whilst also employing sound sustainable design principles allowing for efficient cross ventilation and natural lighting throughout the apartments,” he said.
Ms Ruth Richardson from POD Interior Design said that the design of The Beach perfectly suited Resort Corp’s design principles – we share the same vision and that’s why I believe we’ve responded well to their brief.
“ We were conscious to keep the look of The Beach interiors timeless yet progressive. We embraced natural elements to create a classic result with modern ‘beachside’ influences.
“ The prime objective was to capitalise and enhance the natural lighting and ventilation. We also wanted to promote the absolute beachfront, north-east facing views from wherever possible within each apartment.
“ Our initial task was to assess the layout of each apartment. We asked how we could utilise the light and space while still fulfilling all spatial requirements”, Ms Richardson said.
“ So the colour scheme and finishes, one light and fresh shade companioned with a darker more dramatic colour scheme, were chosen simultaneously.
“ The kitchen, bathroom, ensuite, and laundry fixtures were also selected to complement its coastal design.
“ The Beach buyers will have amazing views from the open kitchens, with an island bench feature for food preparation and barstool seating giving them both functionality and lifestyle at the same time.
“ Bathrooms will feature large scale tailored tiles with floating ‘washplane’ style vanities consistent with the five-star rating.
“ The direction of the interiors is very streamlined and clean. Timber floors will add to the beachside feel, with the living areas kept open and designed with entertaining in mind”, Ms Richardson said.
The public spaces in The Beach include a lobby, gym, extensive pool facilities with swim up bar and a conference room.
The wall beyond the reception area will feature overlapping planes of backlit photographic panels depicting abstract coastal imagery.
Ms Richardson believes that the long cantilevered slab of stone, supported by a horizontal plane, acting as the reception desk will be a special feature of the lobby area.
“ Wall and ceiling surfaces are treated as individual planes and will appear to float, in response to a contemporary architectural style”, she said.
A grand feature staircase within the lobby area will also connect with floating bridge links highlighting The Beach’s three-storey atrium. It will overlook the lush central courtyard and pool area.
The furniture in the public spaces will be minimal encouraging a gallery feel. The lighting will be indirect and subtle, including a cluster of lights resembling tumbleweeds blown in from the beach.
The stone and timber finishes will be natural and “sand-like”. The textural elements will be contrasted by smooth surfaces.
Resort Corp director Mr Paul Brinsmead said that interiors of The Beach would reflect the sophisticated yet laid back style of Cabarita.
“ The interiors perfectly promote the Cabarita lifestyle. Tasteful and modern with natural coastal style people can identify with”, he said.
The Beach is currently under construction and is due for completion in May 2006. 13 apartments are left on the market priced from $610, 000.
Resort Corp is owned by Mr Peter Madrers and lawyer, Mr Paul Brinsmead.
The Beach at Cabarita is part of Resort Corp’s $150 million development portfolio on the Tweed Coast. Its stable also includes Santai at Casuarina Beach, Nor Nor East and Sea on Marine Parade, Kingscliff, and the recently sold-out and completed Soraya Dreamtime Beach on the exclusive Murphy’s Road at Kingscliff.
Resort Corp recently opened a stunning Display and Experience Centre on Marine Parade, Kingscliff showcasing all of their projects. Resort Corp will also have available for inspection a feature display apartment in The Beach by 20 December, 2005.
